OPENSTARS - open monitoring system of operational parameters of heatpumps and other sources of heat for heating and hot water preparation in family houses and apartment buildings, developed by HOUSE DOKTOR is a combination of several open source projects and its own hardware and software inhouse development. The main vision of the system OPENSTARS development was to go to market with open modular system that allows real-time monitoring and evaluation of the various heat sources operational paramaters installed and operated in our climatic conditions and to launch an independent platform for comparation of heating operational costs and ROI of these heat sources based on hard data.
Click on the diagram of the heating system on the left and after a few seconds, you can watch the live data of our heatpump NIBE F2030-7 operating parameters including calculated values, such as an immediate electric power consumption, heat power output and achieved longterm seasonal COP. You can also watch the meteorological conditions at site as an instantaneous and average daily temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, rainfall in 24 hours, etc.
OPENSTARS system can very well be used in process of settings the heating system parameters. Energy for heating and hot water preparation (electricity, gas or other energy sources) are generally highest operating cost of living and therefore optimal settings the heating system parameters by monitoring operating parameters can result into very significant savings.
You can watch not only the instantaneous values but also long-term development of individual values and their interdependencies, such as the relationship between energy consumption for heating and outdoor air temperatures (i.e. real heat loss of building), or real COP of the heatpump by various outdoor temperatures .
